Cell phones are as much a part of society as driving cars.  And, like cars, there’s always some controversy to using them.  A new study shows that cell phone use are now linked to brain cancer.  But, that fact may not be enough to get people to stop using their mobile technology.

Cell phones are everywhere and can go anywhere.  Some people even use them in place of a house phone.  But what is so common these days might actually harm you.  According to one of the world’s top neurosurgeons, Doctor Vini Khurana, mobile phones *could* kill far more people than smoking or asbestos.

“Yeah, I believe it’s true,” says Darrell Allen.

Darrell Allen has two cell phones: one for his personal use and another for his business.  Ever since cell phones were invented, scientists have tried to inform the public about the possible dangers of using the technology.  Although Allen acknowledges that modernizing and convenience comes with a price, he’s not too quick to give up his 21st century lifestyle.

“There’s something out there that’s going to get us anyhow, and I need it on my business,” Allen tells Newschannel 32.

Cell phones are not only an important part of people lives, they can even save lives in emergencies.  But, the study shows that using handsets for 10 years or more can double the risk of brain cancer. In fact, both French and German health officials have warned against the dangers of cell-phone use for years, especially for children. As with most things, only time will tell.

The author of the study has called on the government and the mobile phone industry to take immediate steps to reduce exposure to their radiation.

We should note, however, not everyone agrees there is a link between cell phones and cancer.

This study by Dr. Kharana is being peer reviewed to verify the claims.

Altadena, CA residents and parishioners are fighting their own church from putting up a cell tower across the street from the church school. The fact that The Archdiocese has greed to do this says a lot about the church priorities. The Los Angeles Unified School District needs money too, but it isn’t taking a chance with its children. However, The Archdiocese keeps putting cell towers up in schools and churches. This tells me that The Archdiocese values money more than its children. Pathetic.  These links show how Altadena residents are fighting to keep the cell tower from going up!

While many people have debates on placement of cellular antennas in their communities the consideration of health effects on residents is muted because of the federal government’s Telecommunications Act of 1996 which prohibits local governments from considering health effects when making decisions about antenna placement...wtf?

I wonder if using bluetooth headsets, or other WIRED headsets help reduce the risks associated with the cell phone usage.  Could someone ask Dr. Kharana that?  There was no information about Dr. Kharana, who he is… where he is from, what his qualifications are… etc…

This is similar to the lifecycle of cigarettes. They were a new and indispensable creation back at the start of the 20th century. Folks knew the dangers back then and had very similar responses like the one above ““There’s something out there that’s going to get us anyhow, and I need it on my business,” Allen tells Newschannel 32."”.

Unfortunately, 80 years later, when folks in mass die of cancer resulting from cell phone use, they’ll sue and cripple the telecoms like they have done to cigarette manufacturers claiming that they didn’t know the dangers and that corporate America obfuscated the truth.

Shame on us… again.

They just tell a claim which I think it’s propably true, but they don’t say how you can reduce your risks of having brain cancer from cell phone use. Initially, I thought using a handset reduced the risk, but it seems like it’s not the case.  What’s the most time you can spend using a cell phone to avoid brain cancer?

This is nothing new. Swedish research found 7 years ago nearly 100% of women using the coper T IUD and cell phones got cancer due to the breakdown of the blood cell barrier allowing carcinogens to enter the cell starting the cancer cascade.

It isn’t brain cancer you should worry about. It that drunk redneck in the pickup, the texting teenager in the Civic, or the bimbo soccer mom in the SUV dialing her hair dresser that will kill you.

I experienced this when using my cell phone, when I get a migraine headache using the cell phone intensifies the pain while removing the phone away of my head instantly reduces the headache pain, this convinced me that cell phones are dangerous and I use it for very short calls ( less than 2 mins).
I think having any turned on computer in a bedroom also have a negative effect on my sleep & health in general.
