Gainesville State College has made history.
For the first time, students have earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the institution. Tonight, 25 baccalaureates received diplomas in Early Childhood Education and Environmental Spatial Analysis.
The Vice President of Academic Affairs says school officials started the four-year degree programs in 2005 to fulfill local and regional educational needs.
“These are students who have been waiting in the pipeline to take advantage of these degrees. They’ve been preparing, and we’ve really got some excellent students who started the program. And, from what we’re seeing in admissions requirements and those students who are applying, this trend is just going to continue,” Michael Stoy tells Newschannel 32.
GSC will recognize two other four-year degree programs in December. Those diplomas will be in Early Childhood Care and Education and Technology Management.
