The NCAA approved two new bowl games for next year.
The St. Petersburg Bowl in Florida will feature teams from the Big East and USA, and the Congressional Bowl in Washington, DC will pit either Army or Navy against a qualifying ACC team.
Also, the SEC gained a ninth bowl tie-in, bumping Conference USA out of the PapaJohns.com bowl in Birmingham, and the Cotton Bowl moved to the afternoon of January 2nd from New Year’s morning.
There are now 34 bowl games in Division I FBS College Football - that’s 68 spots for teams. Last year, 71 teams were bowl eligible with at least 6 wins.
